Pros: I spent several hours trying to remove a particular adware file that kept attempting to break through my avg antivirus. after about 5 other free products failed to remove this incredibly annoying file, I tried spybot and was thrilled to see that it was finally gone!!

In addition to spyware and adware detection and disinfection, Spybot-S&D can repair the registry, winsock LSPs, ActiveX objects, browser hijackers and BHOs, PUPs, HTTP cookies, trackerware, heavy duty, homepage hijackers, keyloggers, LSP, tracks, trojans, spybots, revision, and other kinds of malware. It can also delete tracking cookies. Spybot-S&D has an Immunize function to block the installation of spyware before it occurs e.g. by modifying the hosts file. A secure file deleter is included. Spybot-S&D was not originally intended to replace but complement anti-virus programs (prior to v. 2.1 'Spybot +AV'), but it does detect some common trojans and rootkits. A free-standing rootkit finder, RootAlyzer, is available.
This package installs the free version of Spybot which allows full, manual scanning of malware and rootkits. For anti-virus protection and additional features licensed versions are available. For more info, see -networking.org/compare-spybot-editions/
Sorry to hear you are having computer problems also. If you buy a new one now, you have to search around or you get Vista with a free upgrade to System 7, but there are some vendors out there who still will supply XP with a free upgrade. I will not take Vista, I will keep what I have before I do that. But a new one with XP and a free upgrade for future conversion would allow one to have a reliable program and availability of the latest, AFTER they experiment with others and a few of the bugs are worked out.
HOWEVER, 0&0 Shutup @ -software.com/en/shutup10 and good old Spybot S&D @ _spybot_search_destroy/ as recommended by somebody last week does a wonderful job quieting down the back and forth jibber-jabber between my computers and MS with W10. I recommend both.
